Our Story

There is a moment - the first time you see a stranger carrying something you made - that nobody warns you about.

Not a friend who received it as a gift. Not a photo on your own phone. A stranger, in a crowd, reaching for something that came from you, without knowing it.

That feeling is why Verb exists.

Verb is an action word. In every language, in every grammar lesson you ever sat through, the verb is the word that makes the sentence move. Without it, nothing happens. We named this brand after it because we believe the same thing about the women who carry it - they are not the subject of someone else's story. They are the action in their own.

It took 1.5 years to get here.

Not 1.5 years of planning. 1.5 years of trying - manufacturers who couldn't translate the vision, designers who built something close but not it, restarts that cost more than the starts did. Most people who build something don't talk about the attempts that didn't work. We are talking about them because they are the reason what finally worked is what it is.

We came from the same 9-to-5 that most people come from. The kind of day where you are busy inside someone else's sentence. We left it, or rather, we chose to build something with a name of our own.

We found the right team. They work day and night. So do we.

The first collection is called Pehchaan.

Pehchaan (पहचान) is the Hindi word for identity — specifically, the moment of recognition. Not who others say you are. Not what your title reads. The version of yourself you know when you are finally honest about it.

Every bag in Pehchaan is named after something Indian and specific. Bali. Sair. Rekha. Karma. Each name comes from Sanskrit, each one has carried meaning in this language for centuries, and each one has been waiting to be put on something a woman reaches for every single day.

Pehchaan is Chapter One. There will be more chapters.

The ambition is simple and not small: for Indian design to be seen as premium by the world. Not as ethnic. Not as niche. As design - considered, intentional, built on craft that has existed on this subcontinent longer than most luxury houses have been open.

We are not there yet. We are 1.5 years in, making bags we believe in completely, learning everything the industry did not teach us because we did not come from it.

That is enough to begin.
